I live in Bayside, WI with my husband and four children. I am enrolled in the MACSTEP program to obtain my teaching certificate in chemistry and broadfield science with an emphasis in physics. My goal is to teach chemistry and physics in the high school setting.


I obtained my Bachelor’s of Science degree with a major in chemistry and a minor in piano pedagogy and performance. My career began at Lachat Instruments. We manufactured and sold automated instrumentation for ion analysis.

I had my dream job as a Technical Service Chemist/Trainer traveling to labs to install their equipment and teach 3-4 day training courses to our clients. Unfortunately, the company moved to Colorado. I then worked at Aldrich Chemical Company as a Technical Support Chemist. Although I still worked with clients educating them on our products and services, the part of my career that I loved the most- teaching face to face- was missing.

I had my first son in 2005 and stayed home with my children until this past year when I began working at an elementary school providing reading and writing support. I realized how much I miss teaching and decided to go back to school to blend my love of teaching and science.

I love listening to music, making music, and going to concerts. Another favorite activity of mine is exercising.  I enjoy spending time with friends and family. At home when I have free time (which hasn't been happening lately 😬) I like to play all kinds of games and work on puzzles.

Where I Am, and Where I Want To Go

An element is a substance that cannot be broken down into simpler chemical substances. There are about 90 naturally occurring elements known on Earth. Using technology, scientists have been able to create nearly 30 additional elements that do not occur in nature. Today, chemistry recognizes 118 elements—some of which were created an atom at a time.  The subject of  elements includes  many different topics to teach students about What I know about  can be summarized here , (libretexts.org) and here , (Valley City State University).
